Life in Tahoe...
I was out early on a recent morning, before any cars or dogs and joggers had appeared. Along came a nearby resident. He stopped and turned toward me and took a long look, wondering, I suppose, if my presence might represent any opportunities. A fresh-baked apple pie I'd left out to cool? Groceries forgotten for a moment in the open back of the car? He obviously decided that I was boring, and he turned and strolled down the street.
ak! Vividly remember, as a teenager, a bear walking down the street and cutting thru someone's yard to the alley. Lived in a tiny, isolated town so wildlife showed up a lot.
ReplyDeleteWe're originally from Minnesota, where we went on lots of canoe trips in the Boundary Waters and the Quetico in Canada. We often saw bears. And, sometimes, moose. And we heard the wolves but never saw them. In Tahoe we see bears and coyotes. And the coyotes yipping and howling make more noise than all other animals put together except Stellars jays. So we're used to it. But we do try to keep from leaving food in the cars. Three cars got ripped apart by bears over at Emerald Bay last week... A reminder to be vigilant!
DeleteI love bear sightings in Tahoe!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe love them, too. But as my preceding comment indicates, we have to remember to respect them!
